The bottom 200 meters of the ocean is much cleaner. Only 1% of sunlight can reach this depth resulting in reduced biological activity.
The Photic Zone
The top 200 meters of the ocean has a higher density of biological activity as it receives sunlight, which drives photosynthesis.
Deep Ocean
OceanWell’s technology harvests the natural hydrostatic pressure found at depths of 400 meters below sea level to drive the reverse osmosis process.
Outfall Riser
Unlimited free pressure allows us to run a much lower recovery rate than traditional methods, ensuring that our outfall is environmentally benign. We disperse it through these risers into strong deep water currents, ensuring it rapidly diffuses to ambient salinity.
LifeSafe™ System
Our intake system filters seawater through multiple layers of fine screens (<500 microns) at low velocity to prevent impingement. Any microscopic organisms small enough to pass through the outer layers are returned to the ocean unharmed.
Sending the Water to Shore
Each pod in a water farm pumps its fresh water to a common manifold, then conveys it to shore through a main subsea pipeline.
It’s easier to depressurize one molecule than pressurize two.
