Our intake process allows microscopic organisms to pass safely through the filters and return to the ocean without pressure change, avoiding ecological disruption and preserving biodiversity in deep-sea environments.
Our system not only removes salt, but also PFAS, pesticides, microplastics, bacteria, and viruses, delivering ultra-clean and safe drinking water that meets the highest purity standards.
Unlimited free pressure means our outfall salinity is low and environmentally benign. We disperse it through risers into deep water currents, ensuring it diffuses to ambient salinity rapidly. The riser size depends on local currents for rapid diffusion of brine within meters of discharge point, ensuring no settlement or reingestion of brine into the pods
Our First Water Farm is projected to supply an equivalent to 58 million gallons per day or 65,000 acre-feet per year – think of a football field, filled with up to one foot of water. A large water farm can supply a whole city.
Our wedgewire intake screens are 0.5 mm 2 times smaller than recommended by 2019 California Ocean Plan Amendment and the intake velocity is 3 times slower than the EPA recommendations to avoid the entrainment and impingement of larger organisms.
