Robert Bergstrom is a veteran of the global water industry with more than 25 years of experience developing, scaling, and operating desalination and water infrastructure businesses.
Before founding OceanWell, Robert founded Seven Seas Water, a pioneering desalination company that grew to more than 500 employees before being acquired by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. Throughout his career, he has focused on delivering reliable freshwater solutions that combine commercial viability with long-term resilience.
At OceanWell, Robert leads the company’s vision to redefine how freshwater is produced. By harnessing natural ocean pressure through modular subsea desalination systems, OceanWell is building a new generation of climate-resilient water infrastructure designed to provide abundant freshwater while protecting marine ecosystems.
Robert believes the global conversation around water is approaching a fundamental turning point. As water scarcity increasingly influences where communities grow and where industries can invest, he sees freshwater becoming one of the defining strategic resources of the coming decades, much as carbon became a defining business issue in the early 2010s. His vision is to ensure that access to clean water becomes a catalyst for sustainable economic growth rather than a limiting factor.
