Jon Hemingway is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Progeny 3, the Seattle-based investment office he leads, which focuses on strategic private investments and long-term wealth management. He is the former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Carrix, the parent company of SSA Marine and one of the largest marine terminal operators in the Americas.
Founded in 1949 as a Seattle waterfront labor broker, the family business grew over three generations into an international port and rail terminal operator with more than 200 locations across the Americas and Asia and over 20,000 employees. Jon led Carrix as Chief Executive Officer for 25 years and then as Chairman, bringing in Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners as a partner in 2007, Mexican investor Fernando Chico Pardo in 2014 and Blackstone Infrastructure Partners in 2019, before the family sold its controlling stake to Blackstone in 2021.
Jon’s family office invested in OceanWell’s Series A in 2024. He brings to the Advisory Board decades of experience building, financing and operating marine infrastructure at global scale, from working ports to the capital structures behind them.
